A distracted nurse administered two doses of Covid-19 vaccine (Covishield) to a 51-year-old man at Khuntapura village under Betnoti block of Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
Fortunately, the person did not suffer any adverse reactions, according to the local health authorities, though he was left traumatised. As per reports available on Monday, Prasanna Kumar Sahu of Bachuripada village had gone to temporary vaccination camp at a school for receiving first dose of the vaccine after booking a slot online. Following administration of vaccine, he was advised by the nurse to stay at the vaccination centre for 30 minutes for observation.
While he was resting, the nurse mistakenly administered another dose of the vaccine to him, after five minutes. Later, as a preventive measure, Prasanna was asked by healthcare workers present to undergo observation for two hours.
