A dispute over car parking in an apartment complex in Baleswar led to firing on Saturday evening, in which a 42-year-old man received bullet injuries and was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
The victim was identified as Anand Singh, owner of an electronic gadgets outlet, Ananda Construction.
He was allegedly shot by one Laxman Behera with his licensed pistol.
Reports said both accused and victim were residing in the multi-storied residential complex. A heated altercation between them over the car parking resulted in the incident.
The Town police rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody and shifted the injured to hospital. Further investigation was on.
