Man in two Govt jobs goes scot-free in K'pada!

An alleged case in which a person doing two Government jobs simultaneously has come to the fore in a village in Kendrapada district. If sources are to be believed, Basant Kumar Mishra, a resident of Jaduchandrapur in Rajnagar block’s Chandibaunsamula gram panchayat, is working as a village postmaster at Bhitargada post office and at the same time as a PDS retailer for Jaduchandrapur, Jhadakata, Kusunpur, lokanath Prasad and Chandibaunsamula villages.

As per the Civil Supplies Department’s guidelines, a retailer has to open the counter everyday from 8 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm in order to distribute PDS items to the villagers.

The retailers also sign agreements with the Civil Supplies Department to get licence for the purpose. It is disappointing that though the department officials and the postal officials are aware of Mishra’s taking benefits from the two sources, they are not taking actions, lamented some villagers.

When contacted, Rajnagar postmaster Uttam Mandal said he was yet to know that Mishra was doing two jobs at a time. Similarly, Rajnagar marketing inspector Rajkumar Behera said he knew it but he could do nothing with Sub-Collector being the appointing authority for the PDS retailers. However, Sub-Collector Pratap Kumar Mishra said he knew the matter only on Saturday and would conduct an inquiry soon.
