On the allegation of rape of a minor mentally-challenged girl, the Remuna police arrested a 33- year- old youth.
Although the incident occurred about two weeks ago, the victim’s parents came to know about the incident on Sunday.
The father of the victim lodged a complaint with the police on Monday.
According to Nilgiri SDPO Sudam Charan Sahu, the accused who is a building contractor, was regularly visiting the house of the victim as he was engaged in building a pucca house granted under PMAY.
Finding her alone after her parents went away for works, the accused committed the offence. “He was booked under section of rape against minor and the POCSO Act and forwarded to court,” said police.
