The Khallikote police in Ganjam district on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly posing as an Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of the local police station and threatening a person over phone in the area.
The accused was identified as Sunil Kumar Gauda. He was arrested on the basis of an audio recording of a telephonic conversation.
Gauda threatened the person of Bharasa village under Khallikote Tehsil over phone to implicate him in a false case.
After receiving Gauda’s call, the man lodged a complaint with the Khallikote police. Cops carried out an investigation and nabbed Gauda.
The call recording of Gauda's conversation with the victim also went viral on social media platforms where he could be heard taking the IIC's and a politician’s name while bullying the man.
Further investigation into the matter was on to find out why Gauda was threatening the victim and if others are involved in the case. Gaud was forwarded to court on Monday, said police.
