Man held for killing wild boar at B'kanika

Forest personnel on Friday arrested and court-forwarded one Ajay Pradhan, a poacher of Chanrakolla village in Rajnagar for killing a wild boar by spreading loop at the Bhitarkanika National Park.

Notably, Pradhan and his two fellow villagers, Tapan Patra and Fadinga Patra, had killed the wild boar to sell his meat in the local market. Earlier on December 3, forest personnel of Kanika Range led by Ranger Akhaya Nayak had seized 12kg of raw wild boar meat, a hide of the boar, along with other haunting equipments from house. However, they had failed to nab any accused in this case.

Acting on a tip-off, the forest personnel conducted a raid on Pradhan’s house and arrested Pradhan. Search is on to nab his other associates, said Ranger Nayak.
