Police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of Chhattisgarh woman whose body was recovered a few days back from a forest near Turekela College in Balangir district.

The deceased was identified as Tanu Kure, an Axis Bank employee in Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

The arrests were made based on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased with the Raipur police after Tanu went missing on November 21.

After her body was found in Turekela three days later, police had started an investigation during which it was ascertained that Tanu was having a love relationship with one Sachin Agarwal of Kantabanji.

The duo’s relationship had turned bitter as Sachin was angry over another person calling up Tanu regularly. On November 24, he took Tanu to Bangomunda in a four-wheeler on some pretext. During the journey the couple had an argument. Sachin flew into a rage and fired three rounds at the woman from his pistol.

He then dumped the body in a forest in Turekela and poured petrol over it and set it on fire. Police during investigation found that the pistol was registered in the name of one Suraj Sagarwal.

Later, both Sachin and Suraj were arrested after the latter confessed to their crime, said Kantabanji SDPO Lakshmi Narayan Marndi.
