A man was arrested here on Monday for allegedly kicking his pregnant wife in her stomach, for which she lost her unborn baby.
The accused Basant Kumar Jena (38) has been sent to a judicial custody in Nimapada after a local court rejected his bail application.
Jena of Madhupur under the Uttara police outpost on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar had married Rajalakshmi (33), a slum dweller at Saheed Nagar of the city in 2010. He allegedly hit his pregnant wife and kicked her stomach during a domestic fight that led to death of their unborn baby in February 2019.
In this connection, a case was registered at the Pipili police station. Ten months after the case, the accused was arrested by police and forwarded to a local court on Monday.
