The Birsa police on Saturday arrested and court forwarded a 25-year-old youth of Bhurtabahal under its jurisdiction on charge of beating his two-month-old daughter to death. Sources said Francis Munda was unhappy since the girl child took birth two months back.
Francis, who has a 3-year-old daughter, also started rebuking his wife for not giving birth to a male child in the second issue. On Friday night, Francis reportedly beat his wife severely, forcing her to go to a neighbourer’s for an escape. Thereafter, Francis beat his both daughters, killing the two-month-old on the spot. Hearing the daughters’ screaming, some neighbourers rescued the elder daughter from his clutch and admitted her in a hospital. They also informed the police about the death of the child. The police recovered the body and sent the same for autopsy on Saturday. “We have arrested Francis Munda and forwarded him to court,” said Bisra PS IIC Sushant Das.
