A man of Dewan Bazar here has been arrested for giving triple talaq to his wife over phone.
Barkatullah Khan (32) had pronounced ‘triple talaq’ to his wife Munni Khatun (29) about seven months ago. The Mahila police conducted an investigation on the woman’s complaint and arrested Barkatullah.
The couple has three sons. The family was staying in a rented house as elders didn’t allow them to stay with them due to some family dispute.
In her complain, Muni has also alleged that her husband has affairs with multiple women and has even married a woman from Tirtol in Jagatsinghpur district.
The accused was sent to the Choudwar Circle Jail on Sunday.
