A man was arrested for brutally attacking his wife with a sharp weapon in Umarkote in broad daylight on Sunday.
While Santoshini Behera was going to her parents’ house at Gulipatna, her husband Uma Charan Behera who was hiding nearby suddenly attacked her, causing her sever bleeding injury in her face and head. Earlier too, Santoshini had lodged a complaint against Uma Charan alleging dowry and domestic violence and Uma Charan was put in prison for several days. Keeping grudge on Santoshini, Uma Charan again committed crime on her.
Santoshini, who is living separately with her four kids, told the media that she was in apprehension of her life risk when she heard about the release of her husband from jail. She also alleged that her husband after his release from jail attempted twice to attack her and she intimated the local police about the risk to her life, but police took the matter lightly, as a result of which she was attacked again.
She further said she would move to the Superintendent of police,
Nabarangpur, to plead for safety and security of her and her four children.
