The police arrested a man and four other family members in a dowry death case after his wife died in mysterious circumstances at Bipulingi in Ganjam district.
The police recovered the body of Rasmita (23), wife of Subala Patra, a grocery shop owner, from his house under the Chhatrapur police station on Tuesday. The couples were married in January.
While the in-laws of the deceased claimed that she had committed suicide, her father Sukru Padhy of Ganjam town alleged that the in-laws of his daughter killed her demanding more dowry. “The cause of the death would be known only after postmortem,” said Chhatrapur PS Inspector-in-Charge Dillip Kumar Tripathy.
