A youth allegedly hacked his father to death with an axe over a family dispute at Kendupati village under the Khariar police station in the district late on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Nakul Banchhor (60) and the accused Purna Banchhor (35).
Purna also attacked his wife before killing his father.
“He attacked me inside the house and went outside when I fell down. I don't know what he did outside. Later, I learnt that he has killed his father,” revealed the wife.
Villagers have revealed that Purna was regularly quarreling with his father over some matter. "We don't know why he took such a dastardly step this time," said the villagers.
The Khariar police seized the body of the deceased in the morning and apprehended the accused when he was trying to flee from the village.
Later, the police after preliminary investigations said Purna was suspicious of an illicit relationship between his wife and father and that is the cause of murder. "The accused would be forwarded to judicial custody on Friday," said Khariar IIC Kailash Chandra Sethi.
