A Fast Track Court in Phulbani on Saturday sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl about four years ago.
The designated POCSO Court also imposed a fine of Rs 55,000 on convict Bhagirathi Malika.
The convict would have to spend seven months more in jail, if he fails to pay the penalty, Fast track Court Judge Bhaskar Chandra Sahu said while pronouncing the judgement.
A Class IX girl student of the Brahmanigaon police station area had gone to her aunt’s house during summer vacation in 2018. Finding her alone in the house, Bhagirathi entered the house and raped her.
Public prosecutor Banamali Behera was handling the case.
