The District and Sessions Judge here on Saturday sentenced one lulu Kahanra of Sundigaan under the Phiringia police station to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for making a minor girl of Singapada village six-month pregnant on the pretext of marrying her.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs5,000, defaulting which lulu would have to undergo one year more of jail term. Besides, the court also directed for provision of compensation to the girl. Following lulu’s marriage refusal, the girl had lodged an FIR at the Sadar police station, following which the police had arrested him.
