A man allegedly forging certificates managed to get a job in the Cooperative department and availed all benefits for over 13 years in Erasama block here, yet no disciplinary action has been taken against him.

Kailash Chandra Das fraudulently got employment as assistant secretary (AS) in Goda Service Co-operative Society ltd in 2000 by producing fake educational certificates. This was known from an RTI case.

Reports said that Tapan Biswal, a resident of Joshapur village under Goda Panchayat of Ersama block, had applied to the Goda service co-operative society seeking information on the educational qualification of Das and the society general body meeting resolution copy on June 26, 2002 through RTI.

The society authority responded to the RTI queries and supplied the Xerox copy of educational certificates of Das and delivered the society resolution copy. On verification, the RTI applicant found that the some educational certificates and information furnished by Das were fake. Das had passed class VII with second division in 1971, but his date of birth shown in certificate is July 9, 1963. This shows Das completed his class VII at the age of eight years. Similarly, Das has the signature of the headmaster on his forged certificate.

Biswal also got two contradicting copies of the society resolution on June 26, 2002. In the first copy, the society general body meeting endorses stopping the salary of Das and initiating disciplinary action against him, while in the second copy, initiating disciplinary action against Das is missing.

The RTI applicant too got additional information that acting on the society general body resolution, the ARCS, Jagatsinghpur circle had instituted a probe against Das’s forgery. However, basing on the investigation officer’s report who gave him a clean chit, Das’s service was regularised.

Meanwhile, RTI applicant Biswal and a few society members and local people have petitioned ARCS, Jagatsinghpur circle to order a fresh probe into the forgery and take legal action against Das, id found guilty.

ARCS Bishnu Prasad Sethy confirmed receiving the petition and revealed a sub assistant register of the Cooperative department has been deployed to probe the allegations and file a report. After getting the report, needful action will be taken against the Das, Sethy assured.
