A family feud turned fatal as a person committed suicide by hanging himself and his wife sustained burn injuries after attempting self-immolation following a quarrel between the two at Oukhama village under the Sadar police station in Dhenkanal district on Friday night.
According to reports, the deceased Narayan Sahoo took the extreme step after the quarrel with his wife Nayana. later, the woman set herself on fire by pouring kerosene over her body.
Nayana was rescued by locals in a critical condition and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital here. She was later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack as her condition deteriorated.
On being informed, police reached the spot and started investigation.
