A pall of gloom descended on the Champua suburb in Keonjhar district after a newlywed man lost battle to Covid-19. Less than a month after entering into wedlock, Debasish Behera, a resident of Rajia village under the Champua police limits, succumbed to the virus.
As a result, Padmalaya, daughter of Purna Chandra Sethy of Bhusugaon in Keonjhar district, had the most painful experience in her life. Debasish (31), son of Niranjan Behera, a retired Nalco employee, had tied the knot with Padmalaya on March 28. Their wedding reception was held on March 31.
However, Debasish fell ill next day (April 1). As Debasish’s health condition deteriorated, he underwent Covid-19 test and the report came positive and he was admitted to a Covid Hospital on April 17 in Bhubaneswar and put on a ventilator.
However, he died on April 22. And now his parents have reportedly also tested Covid positive.
