In a freak mishap, a person died after he fell from a swing at a Meena Bazaar in Tureikela block of Balangir district on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Debrah Sahu, a resident of Tureikela village in the block. The local puja committee had organised the Meena Bazaar.
Sahu, a member of the committee, was riding one of the swings when he suddenly fell. As he suffered critical injuries, locals admitted him to the Tureikela hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.
According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased fell from the swing when it suddenly stopped.
The doctor who attended to Sahu said the condition of the patient was critical and by the time the locals brought him to the hospital, he was dead.
Getting information, a police team of the Tureikela police station reached the spot and started investigation. The body was sent for postmortem and an UD case was registered.
