A man was allegedly hacked to death by his wife and son at Sarsara village in the Bonai area of Sundargarh district late on Tuesday night over a family dispute after he asked for money to buy liquor.
The deceased was identified as lochana Munda. Police detained the mother-son duo, identified as Hema and Chakra, for interrogation. lochana had asked for Rs 50 from Hema to consume liquor to which the latter denied. Chakra supported his mother.
Getting furious over it, lochana attacked the duo with an axe. In a bid to save themselves, Chakra and Hema snatched the axe from lochana and hit him to death on the spot.
On being informed by villagers about the incident, the Tikayatpalli police reached the spot, seized the body for postmortem and started investigation by detaining the two accused.
