A man sustained critical burn injuries after attempting to immolate himself in front of the Kishannagar police station in Salepur of Cuttack district on Thursday.
As per reports, the victim, Gunanidhi Bisoi, set himself on fire by pouring petrol on his body.
Though the exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that Bisoi had approached the police in connection with a land dispute. He sought police assistance a week back. It is suspected that Bisoi might have resorted to the extreme step after failing to get the desired cooperation from the police officials.
Meanwhile, Bisoi has been rushed to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack and his condition is said to be critical. Police officials are yet to comment on the issue.
