An elderly person and his son committed suicide following a dispute between them over use of mobile phone by the latter at Kushapada village under the Dharakote police limits in Ganjam district.

According to reports, Rajendra Panda of the village reprimanded his son Kalpabata Panda on Friday evening for excessive use of his mobile phone and advised him to pay attention towards studies, following which the boy ran away from the house.

His family members searched for him at various places but in vain.

On Saturday morning, locals spotted Kalpabata’s body hanging from a tree near the village and informed his father about it. Rajendra reached the spot and, blaming himself for his son’s death, committed suicide in the presence of the villagers.

He was rushed to the Aska hospital, where doctor declared him brought dead. The two bodies were sent for postmortem.
