Tension prevailed in the Samatrapur area under the Lingaraj police on Sunday afternoon after a man was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants. The deceased, who used to run a sweets stall, was suspected to have been killed by his business rivals.
As per reports, the assailants, which included another sweet stall owner chased the victim on the road and brutally assaulted him with sharp weapons. The incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed at the spot.
Following the incident, irate locals staged a demonstration and blocked the Bhubaneswar-Puri road by burning tyres, demanding arrest of the culprits and compensation for the deceased’s family.
Later, Lingaraj police reached the spot and pacified agitators following which blockade was withdrawn.
