In Gajapati district’s Mohana, a person has been again killed brutally on the suspicion of practising black magic. Though the incident happened 11 days ago, surprisingly the police have no inkling about it.
Sources said in Benipadhar village under Mirapalii gram panchayat of Mohana block, Jagabandhu was killed 11 days ago on the suspicion of practicising black magic and the body burnt to ashes, alleged the elder brother -in law of the deceased, Dushasan Mallick on Monday.
Earlier, Jagabandhu was severely beaten up a few months back by the villagers for practicing black magic. The villagers had also warned Jagabandhu to stay away from black magic. From that day, Jagabandhu was on the target of the villagers. On Monday, the family of the deceased held his Ekadasha(11 day of death).
After killing Jagabandhu the villagers burnt the body in an open field to leave no trace of evidence. The locals also threatened the family that if they open their mouth, the whole family would meet the same fate. If anybody or the police ask say that Jagabandhu died of cholera, the accused threatened the family. Due to the threat from the villagers the incident did not come to the limelight. However, out of fear he went back to his village Bhaliyasahi.
When contacted, Mohana IIC Prasant Bhupathi said he has received no complaint regarding this. But after hearing from certain people he has called Dushasan to the police station. When he comes, the incident will be crystal clear, he said.
