A man was allegedly beaten to death in a Kangaroo Court in the Kalimela area of the district on Saturday on suspicion of practising witchcraft.
The deceased was identified as Irma Madkami. After some villagers fell sick, locals suspected that it was due to due to effect of Madkami’s witchcraft.
Reports said Madkami was dragged from his home and produced before a Kangaroo Court, which pronounced him guilty. Later, he was beaten to death by 10 fellow villagers.
After Madkami’s wife lodged a complaint with the Kalimela police, an investigation was initiated and four of the accused were nabbed. Police are on the lookout for six other accused, who are absconding.
