In a horrific incident, a man killed one of his daughters and also attacked his wife and three other children before attempting to commit suicide in the Kuchinda area of Sambalpur district on Saturday.
As per sources, the resident of Joutuk Bahal village attacked all his four daughters in a fit of rage with a sharp weapon. Later he is also alleged to have attempted to kill his wife before attempting to take his own life.
One of his daughters died in the attack while three others have sustained critical injuries. The wife of the accused was also grievously hurt. All five members of the family including the man have been admitted to the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital. Later, police reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased and shifted the injured to hospital. Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar said the accused tried to attempt end his life by slitting his throat with the same weapon that he used to attack his other family members. "We can ascertain the exact motive of the man behind the extreme step after he and his family members recover. The investigation is ongoing to look at other angles and evidence regarding the crime," said the SP.
However, the incident has sent shockwaves among the residents in the area.
