In a daring act, two unidentified bike-borne miscreants looted cash of Rs12 lakh from a person after attacking him near the Patia Big Bazaar here early Monday afternoon.
The incident happened between 1 pm and 1.30 pm when the person identified as Biranchi Barik, a collection agent of a private organisation named Radiant Cash Management Services, was going to deposit the money at the Bank of India branch at Kanan Vihar (Phase-II).
The miscreants suddenly attacked Barik with a sharp weapon right in front of the bank and decamped with the cash kept in a bag, said a local. Barik sustained serious injuries on his head in the attack and was admitted in the KIMS hospital nearby.
The special squad of the Commissionerate Police has started investigating into the incident.
