A special squad of the Commissionerate of Police on Monday arrested one Sourav Mohanty said to be the manager of Sagarika Mineral and Mines Private limited on the charge of looting Rs 8.80 lakh from Hyderabad-based Agri Gold Agency.
According to the police, a few years ago Sourav had started business of mineral water manufacturing by forming Sagarika Mineral and Mines. later, he was engaged in mining activities in the State.
Two years back, he signed an MoU with Agri Gold for a project and received Rs 8.80 lakh from the latter for this purpose. But when the Agri Gold authorities came to know that Sourav’s agency is not registered with the Odisha Construction Corporation, they lodged an FIR at the Hyderabad Central Crime police station.
He also had planned to set up a titanium project at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district. Meanwhile, officials from Hyderabad reached the city to take him in transit remand. He was forwarded to court.
