The Gajapati police on Thursday arrested a man for allegedly sending obscene pictures and messages to a married woman of the district on Facebook and Whatsapp.
The arrestee was identified as Kuber Palei of Kaintha village under Khallikote police station in Ganjam district.
Gajapati SP Sarah Sharma, addressing a Press meet, here on Thursday said Palei was sending obscene pictures and messages to the woman before and after marriage through social media; and out of shame, the victim did not inform about the incident to anyone.
But as the accused continued to send pictures and messages and blackmail her, she informed her husband. Later, her husband had knocked at the door of the police, Sharma added.
On the direction of Gajapati SP, an investigation was carried out and the accused was nabbed by the police.
Among others, SDPO Thakur Prasad Patra and Parala IIC Vivekanand Swain were present.
