Protesting the gruesome train- Bolero jeep accident at Dhalapur village which killed five, hundreds of Congress leaders, including Youth Congress and NSUI activists, led by Suparno Satpathy held a demonstration near Dhenkanal District Collector’s office recently.
They submitted a memorandum to District Collector Bishnu Prasad Panda. The demands included manning all the railway level crossings in the undivided Dhenkanal district, including at Dhalapur and compensation from the Railways for all the train accident victims in the district. They threatened a rail roko, if no action was taken in a month in fulfilling the demands.
“How many precious lives are we to loose in road and rail mishapsIJ It’s high time we put in place adequate safety measures. The Dhenkanal- Angul belt in the past few years has been buzzing with mindless industrialisation, which has resulted in this unexpected explosion in the road/rail traffic,” Satpathy said.
Among others, who were present included Sunil Pradhan, Durjay Kumar Nath, Subhaprasad Panda, Subrat Kumar Garnayak, Satish Bramha, Subhash Chandra Sahu, Dillip Sahu, Sudip Mishra, Bimal Behera, Rakesh Samal, Ranjan Nayak, Sadashiv Mohapatra, Biprabar Sahu, Prabhudatta Pradhan and Sunil Das.
