In another example of the flyovers on NH-16 turning into a deathtrap, a two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the flyover near Acharya Vihar here on Monday, killing a father-son duo.
The deceased were identified as Gangadhar Maharana and his son Laxman. Both fell off from the flyover, 30-feet below onto the adjacent service road.
While Gangadhar died on the spot, Laxman succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack.
The Hero Duet was hit from behind by a speeding vehicle. Notably, five people have lost their lives in road mishaps on the flyovers on NH-16 in the last three days. Knowledgeable quarters blame lack of enforcement by the Transport Department and the Commissionerate police for the rise in mishaps on the flyovers.
