A man had his eye gouged out by a relative following an argument over repayment of a loan at Sathiapalli under the Sadar police station in Naygarh district on Thursday.
One Pramod Routray (50), a resident of Sajanapada village, had borrowed money from his brother-in law due to financial problems.
He had assured the latter to return the money with interest. However, Pramod failed to return the money. reportedlyPramod’s brother-in-law hatched a plan and called him to Sathiapalli village, following which an altercation took place between the duo.The situation took a violent turn when Pramod was allegedly attacked by a sharp weapons and one of his eyes was gouged out by his brother-in law.
Initially he was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition and later shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. The Sadar police have registered a case and investigating into the incident.
