Mamita murder: Youth Cong stages massive demo in Delhi

Hundreds of Youth Congress activists thronged Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Thursday and staged a dharna protesting against the Naveen Patnaik Government’s indifferent attitude in responding to the Mamita Meher murder case.

The Youth Congress leaders alleged that other than arresting the Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra, the Chief Minister is protecting him and sharing dais with him.

Led by Youth Congress State president Dr Smruti Ranjan Lenka, the activists shouted slogans against the Minister, the BJD Government and the Chief Minister for attempting to cover up the gruesome murder and evidences leading to the alleged involvement of the Minister.

“While the crimes against women and children are on the rise in the State, involvement of Ministers in some cases and the Chief Minister’s silence has baffled many,” said Lenka.

Expressing solidarity with the Odisha Youth Congress’ demonstration at the national capital against the misdeeds of the State Government, All India Youth Congress national observer Krishna Alabaru said that while the people are protesting across the State, the BJD Government is  neither accepting accountability nor asking the Minister to resign.

The dharna was joined by MLA Md Moquim, party State observer Riyajul Ansari, national secretary Sarif Rehman, former MPs Radhakant Digal and Muralidhar Jena and senior party leaders Chinmay Beura, Nikunja Pasayat, Biswajit Das and Sanjay Ray.
