Mamita case: Youth Congress stages protest in Delhi

The Youth Congress on Wednesday staged a gherao programme at the office of the Odisha Government’s Resident Commissioner in New Delhi protesting against the indifferent attitude of the State Government towards the Mamita Meher murder case.

Hundreds of Youth Congress activists led by State president Dr Smruti Ranjan Lenka took out a rally and staged the demonstration against the BJD Government for covering up the case, motivating Mamita’s family and protecting Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra despite his alleged links with the case.

“While the entire State and the country are questioning about Minister Mishra’ role and street protests have reached Delhi, the Chief Minister shared dais with the tainted Minister in his home town,” Lenka said.

He stated that until Mamita’s family gets justice, the Youth Congress would continue its battle. As planned, on Thursday, the youth activists would stage a dharna at Jantar Mnatar in Delhi and submit a memorandum to the President of India.
