There is much similarity between Malayalam and Odia cultures and social life; and Malayalam speaking Kerala people have earned name and fame worldwide for their industriousness.

Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan opined this at the 11th annual function of the All-India Malayalam Association held here on Sunday.

“I have marked the activities of Malayalam people in many countries. In many countries, Malayalam people are serving as English teachers. Besides, they have expertise in health, education, food processing, engineering and many other sectors,” Pradhan said and termed Kerala as a State of entrepreneurs.

He emphasized that Malayalam people work in Odisha as the State has vast geographical boundary and natural resources.

Besides, Pradhan praised Malayalam people for providing various services to Odisha people post Super Cyclone and their continuous services on border areas.

He also stated that Malayalam people have extended supports to flood-affected people of Bihar and Tamil Nadu.

Pradhan also stated that thousands of Odisha people go to Kerala to have Darshan of lord Ayyappa.
