The Manav Adhikar Sarakshya Manch on Monday urged Health Minister Pratap Jena to ensure that benefits of the ‘Niramaya’ scheme reach all people of south Odisha and to establish a child and mother care hospital at Brahmapur at the earliest.
In a memorandum sent to the Minister, the Manch mentioned that only 97 out of 570 kinds of medicines enlisted under the Niramaya scheme is available in Brahmepur and, hence, the rest 369 kinds of medicines should be supplied at the earliest. A toll-free number should be issued for people to lodge grievances and doctors be asked to prescribe generic medicines only. A GIS system should be put in place to track supply of Niramaya medicines and GKSs and WKSs should be made accountable for the purpose.
like Cuttack, Puri, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur, there should be a special child and mother care hospital in Brahmapur. The Red Cross Hospital may be upgraded to such a hospital, suggested the Manch.
Besides, the Manch demanded to make available physiotherapy facility for senior citizens free of cost by upgrading the District Disable Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) located here.
