A total of 758 youths in Jharsuguda district got jobs in private companies at a job fair jointly organised by the Jharsuguda district administration and State Employment Mission at the OSAP ground here on Tuesday. In all, 19 private companies joined the event. The companies are likely to engage them after successfully completing their training.
However, major industries like Sesa Stetlite, OPGC, Ind-Bharat Energy Utkal, Concast Steel, MSP Metallics, Action Ispat and SMC Power Generation in the district did not turn up causing dissatisfaction among the jobseekers.
District Employment Officer Sanju Kumari Sahoo said that most of the industries in the district are running short of raw materials and squeezing employment. This led to less participation of companies, she added.
