The Ganjam police on Saturday nabbed the main conspirator and his close aide involved in the murder of Chhatrapur NAC Councillor laxmidatta Pradhan from Uttarakhand.
Ganjam SP Ashis Singh told reporters that Krushna Chandra Nayak, who is the main conspirator of the brutal murder of the Councillor and his close aide Duryodhan Reddy have been arrested from Uttarakhand by the special squad of the police. Singh said police will seek seven-day remand of the duo for further interrogation.
He said Nayak and Reddy were in the city on the day of the murder and had left for Cuttack after coming to know about the incident. Then took a train to Kolkota. later, they went to Uttarakhand and got accommodation in a guest house.
When asked the conspirators had in a video claimed that they were helped by BJP leader Golak Mohapatra, Singh said he cannot comment on what the accused have claimed. The case is open and investigations are on.
Earlier, 15 accused were arrested in phases by the police in connection with the broad daylight murder, which had created a sensation in the State. Of the 15 arrested persons, while four were nabbed from Kharagpur by a three-member special police team and four were nabbed from the State.
Notably, Pradhan was brutally hacked to death outside his house at Chhatrapur on September 16 over previous rivalry.
