The Commissionerate police have arrested the prime accused and detained several persons in connection with the bomb hurling incident at Raghunath Nagar under the Khandagiri police station in the city.
Police on Tuesday night conducted raid and arrested Agni Sarangi, the main accused, and detained many others for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Agni and his associates of Sarkantara had on Monday allegedly hurled bombs at Raghunath Nagar during which some houses were damaged. The locals got infuriated and staged an agitation. The protest soon turned ugly as the locals vandalised a hotel in Sarakantara area.
On being informed, a PCR vehicle reached the spot to pacify the agitators. However, the locals vandalised the PCR Van and attacked the cops.
Four policemen, including Khandagiri police station IIC were injured in the incident.
