Mahima to be taken on remand from January 1

The Kujang JMFC Court on Thursday permitted the Paradip police to take business tycoon Odisha Stevedores limited (OSl) managing director Mahimananda Mishra on remand from January 1 to 4.

The earlier four-day remand period of Mishra, which was scheduled to begin from Thursday, was put on hold by the police on his health grounds.

Notably, Mishra and OSl executive director Basant Kumar Bal, both accused in the case of murder of Seaways Shipping and logistics Private limited (SSPl) general manager Mahendra Swain at Paradip, had been admitted to the Jagatsinghpur District Headquarters Hospital on Tuesday after they complained of chest pain.

Next day, while Bal was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, Mishra was taken back to the Samagol jail at Kujang after treatment and improvement in his health condition.

Meanwhile, the prime accused in the Swain murder case, Rakesh Chaube, was shifted to the Alipingal jail at Jagatsinghpur from the Samagol jail.
