Trouble continued to mount for Orissa Stevedores limited (OSl) managing director Mahimananda Mishra as he was on Thursday interrogated by police in connection with the 2013 Cuttack Press Chhak bomb hurling case.

A Cuttack ACP and the Madhupatna police station IIC reached Paradip and interrogated Mishra over the incident after the Twin City Commissionerate police reopened the old case, sources said.

The police have reportedly got strong information against Mishra in the bomb hurling incident and are likely to apply for a five-day remand of the OSl chief.

Criminal Ganesh Sahu of the CDA area in Cuttack city has been arrested in the case. The bomb was hurled allegedly under Mishra’s direction, police said, adding that seven cases are pending against Ganesh at various police stations in Cuttack.

In another development on the day, Mishra was produced before the Kujang JMFC court as his four-day remand period came to an end on Wednesday. He was later sent to the Samagol jail in Kujang.

On Wednesday, Mishra had been grilled by the Paradip police over the Angul Jalaram Transport firing (attempt-to-murder) case.

Mishra was on Tuesday quizzed by Crime Branch officials over his alleged involvement in the case of kidnapping of Paradip-based JM Buxi company’s manager Pratap Chandra Das in 1995.

Notably, the Kujang JMFC Court had allowed the Paradip police to take Mishra on a four-day remand from January 1 for further interrogation in connection with the murder of Seaways Shipping and logistics Private limited (SSPl) general manager Mahendra Swain.

Seven persons have been arrested by the police in connection with Swain’s murder so far. They are Rakesh Choubey, Riyasat Hussain alias Riyaz, Mohammad Shamim, Manoj Gochhayat, Shiba, Arindam alias Bapi Sarkhel and Sushant Sethy.

According to the police, Choubey had received Rs 12 lakh cash in advance from the OSl in September 2016 to execute Swain and Choubey through his associates got Swain killed on October 26 last.
