The Odisha Pradesh Mahila Congress on Tuesday held a preparatory meeting here for the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the State.
Mahila Congress State president Bandita Parida said a strategy has been planned to strengthen the organisation at booth, block, district and State levels and make the Bharat Jodo Yatra a success. Over 30 per cent of participants in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the State would be women.
She said crimes against women like rape, harassment and abductions are rising in the State and the Naveen Patnaik Government’s ‘Maa Ku Samman’ pledge has become a gimmick.
PCC president Sarat Patnaik expressed his gratitude to the party women members for their continuous opposition to the BJP and the BJD.
A toll-free number, 1800- 203-0589, issued by the national Mahila Congress for distressed women was inaugurated.
