Fifteen tourist destinations in the country, including the Mahendragiri Hill in Odisha, have been selected by the Union Tourism Ministry for development under the Ramayana Circuit,
which is one of the fifteen thematic circuits having been identified for development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
This was informed by the Minister of State of Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel in reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Patel said that the projects for development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme are identified in consultation with the State Governments and Union Territory Administrations and are given sanction subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilisation of funds released earlier.
