The Angul police on Friday arrested the absconding owner of the ill-fated ‘Maharaja’ bus which claimed 19 lives after it fell off a bridge near Athamallik in Angul district on September 9.
According to reports, the bus owner identified as Rishav Kumar Tripathy from Mohankhali panchayat under Athamallik was arrested by the local police. He was on the run since the road mishap.
The bus bearing registration number OR 06C 9370 skidded off around 50 ft below the Manitiri bridge in the district killing 19 people.
Two days after the tragic incident, the driver Birendra Behera, a resident of Sambalpur district was nabbed by the special squad of the police.
