Advocate Bimala Nandan Mahapatra from Bhubaneswar was elected as the Vice-President of the Eastern Zone unit of the AIFTP at the 17th National Convention of the All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP) held in Mumbai last week.
The AIFTP conducted its annual general body meeting, where a 40-member team was elected to the apex body. Mahapatra secured the highest number of votes and was subsequently selected unanimously as the national Vice-President for the Eastern Zone.
He is the second person from Odisha to adorn this prestigious post after late Arjun Agarwal. Mahapatra was also the first President of the Bhubaneswar Tax Bar Association (1978-88) and has held many other posts of significance in the past. Two other senior advocates Basudev Panda and Jagabandhu Sahu, both from Cuttack, were also elected as members to the national executive of the AIFTP.
