Filmmaker of the Buxi Jagabandhu and Paika Vidroh Akshay Kumar Parija and actor Anubhav Mohanty declared Manmohan Mahapatra as the director-in-chief for the movie at a Press meet here on Friday. Mahapatra has eight national awards to his credit.
Parija and Mohanty aim to produce a feature film on the valiant efforts of Buxi Jagabandhu, the chief architect of the Paika Vidroh in 1817.
The film would explore the indomitable human spirit of Buxi, who had the courage to stand up against the aggression of the British Empire in the country. This also ushered in an anti-colonial sentiment, which paved the way for an intense fury against aggressors.
The film would be assisted by a full team of experienced and award winning cast and crew from the State, India and abroad.
“Being from Khordha, I feel happy to present with my Midas touch and the historical facts which has not got proper recognition so far, on the occasion of 200th year of Paika Vidroh,” said Mahapatra.
