Mahanga police under public ire

Published on:

The Mahanga police have come under public ire as they refused to accept an FIR on bike theft from a local youth.

A motorcycle belonging to one Ajaya Puhana of a villager under Mahanga PS was on Saturday stolen from the weekly Kuhunda market. When Puhana went to Mahanga police station to file an FIR, the in-charge officer refused to accept the FIR but referred him to Kuhunda-Jeypur outpost under the PS.

As the outpost in-charge was absent, two constables present there sent him back to the PS. The same story was repeated only to add to Puhan’s woes. The locals have urged the police higher-ups to direct the Mahanga police to be people friendly and act on complaints.
