Prafulla Biswal, one of the accused in the Mahanga double murder case, was found dead on road near Tangi in Cuttack district late on Friday night. He was absconding after the murder.
On receiving information, the Tangi police reached the spot and began a probe to find out whether Biswal died in a road mishap or it was a case of murder.
Notably, 10 persons have so far been arrested in connection with the murder of local BJP leader Kulamani Baral and his associate Dibyasingha Baral in Mahanga of Cuttack district last month.
Kulamani and Dibyasingha had been critically injured after allegedly being attacked by some miscreants with sharp weapons near Jankoti in the Mahanga area on January 2 evening when they were returning home by a motorcycle.
They succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
