The Keonjhar police on Thursday raided the residence and office of Independent MlA Sanatan Mahakud in Keonjhar district in connection with alleged illegal money transactions during the ongoing panchayat elections.
According to reports, the house and office were searched on allegation of motivating voters towards his candidates with cash.
Along with the Champua MlA, police also conducted raids at the residence of Saroj Sahoo, Joda Municipality Chairperson, for alleged illegal money transactions. The raids were conducted in the presence of magistrates.
During the ongoing raid, the police seized cash worth over `3 lakh from residence of Sahoo so far.
