A group of city-based social organisations celebrated the 168th birth anniversary of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das here on Thursday.
Representatives of the BJP, the Manav Adhikar Surakhya Manch (MASM), the Utkal Sammilani, the Ganjam Bar association, Brahmapur unit, the Mahan Sangh and the Sanskarbadi celebrated the birthday of and garlanded the statue of Madhubabu.
The members rook out a procession and organised a meeting on the occasion. They also demanded the official language status to Odia language by staging a dharna near the statue.
BJP district president Kanhu Charan Pati, Saroj Sabat and activist Abani Kumar Gaya spoke about Madhubabu’s ideology and his contribution towards formation for a separate State of Odisha.
